Dear Friends,

What a year this has been! Creative and personal searches, important discoveries and remarkable realizations: steps towards better understanding myself and my work... This past spring and summer alone my work was featured in three group and one solo shows! A tremendous success, due in large part to the tireless efforts of Chris Villardi and Karen Fitzgerald of Long Island City Artists who work with New York City art venues and Long Island City community to promote local artists. My gratitude to them is endless.

And now it's time to make formal introductions! You will, undoubtedly notice that the MEDITATIONS series, through a long process of evolution, has been transformed. The new works are a reflection on my immediate environment and in particular the unique streets and pavements of New York, their scars and wrinkles...I've been nursing this series for over a year and finally last spring as I was working on the MEANDERINGS series, the new concept started to form. Little by little, line by line... Some works are created with black ink on heavy watercolor paper and some are later coated with a delicate layer of oil. Each panel, although drawn separately and independently of others finds itself part of a larger context. A diptych, a triptych or sometimes even a larger statement. I can’t help but think of our daily lives and how seemingly unrelated pieces of the puzzle suddenly find their places within a much larger narrative...

It’s been mentioned by many who have seen me work on the new drawings that there is a direct relationship between MEANDERINGS AND MEDITATIONS... I am curious to hear your thoughts...

I must now thank those who have provided me with unparalelled support this past year...

Val and Zenos for their unwavering faith in me and my work, for shining their light on the stormiest of days. Hicham Ramzi, who stands behind me - always. Christopher Milne, who managed to get me to LISTEN (not an easy task!) and, after 13 years, made me go back to school! Vladimir Kozhokar - who has always been an inspiration to me, in more ways than he’ll ever know. Stefan Aschan who is my energizer bunny and probably the most active and motivated person I know. My family, Tat that includes you, in Moscow, without them I would be...meandering....
